curiosities Els orígens de la línia daten del 1912, amb l’antic
ferrocarril de via estreta (conegut per la gent com el “Carrilet”) que
connectava Barcelona amb Martorell; alguns anys més tard, la unió d’aquest
ferrocarril amb altres companyies existents va significar la creació d’una
línia que unia Barcelona amb Martorell, Manresa i Igualada (fora de l’Àrea
Metropolitana, a Los orígenes de la línea datan de 1912, con el
antiguo ferrocarril de vía estrecha (conocido por la gente como el
“Carrilet”) que conectaba Barcelona con Martorell; algunos años más tarde, la
unión de este ferrocarril con otras compañías existentes significó la
creación de una línea que unía Barcelona con Martorell, Manresa e Igualada
(fuera del Área Metropolitana, en The origins of the line are dated back to 1912,
with the former narrow-gauge railway (known by the people as the “Carrilet”)
that connected Barcelona with Martorell; several years later, the union of
this railway with other existing companies meant the creation of a line that
linked Barcelona with Martorell, Manresa and Igualada (out of the
Metropolitan Area, in the Metropolitan Region) for passengers, and
Barcelona’s harbour with other Catalan cities for freight goods. Due to this
fact, nowadays the lines share infraestructure with suburban trains and with
freight trains. Between 1936 and 1939, Espanya station was used as a refuge
during the Spanish Civil War. The line is exploited since 1978 by the Catalan
